Duties:


  • You will cut, bend, thread, and assemble pipe fittings, using various types of shop machinery and equipment.
  • You will make various kinds of pressure tight joints, such as threaded, flangebolted, flangewelded, soldered, and silversoldered joints.
  • You will install piping and any necessary hangers, brackets, and other supporting fixtures.
  • You will test various piping systems under pressure to determine conformance to standards or to locate leaks and other defects.
  • You will repair leaks, clear obstructions in piping, and make changes and adjustments to obtain proper circulation and flow.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:I have the ability to perform common tasks including: Installing pipe, valves, fittings, and fixtures to construct, install or repair piping systems such as steam heating, steam power, hot water heating, hydraulic, high pressure air, C02, automatic fire sprinkler systems, oil line systems for industrial production systems; Test various piping systems; Repairing leaks, clearing obstructions; Make changes and adjustments to obtain proper circulation and flow; Work with blueprints, sketches and other information pertaining to layout, assembly and installation of various high and low pressure systems.- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
