The incumbent shall be responsible for providing support in patient care and in carrying out therapeutic activities as directed by the therapist in a team environment consistent with professional and ethical standards.


The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.


Employment Qualifications

  • The incumbent shall, at a minimum, be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in working is a health care setting is desirable.
  • Experience with outpatient programs/services is desirable.
  • Basic computer skills desirable.

Essential Job Functions

  • Transport patients to activities as needed.
  • Provide patient care support to clinician(s).
  • Report patient response to interventions and condition to clinician(s).
  • Prepare treatment area before and after each patient's treatment.
  • Clean therapeutic equipment.
  • Carry out clerical tasks.
  • Assist with maintaining The Joint Commission Standards as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of supplies and patient care items.

Quality Management Area

  • Participate in unit quality management activities.
  • Collect quality review data.
  • Participate in survey preparation activities.
  • Participate in unit safety committee activities.
  • Contribute to the delivery of cost effective care.

Professional/Leadership Area

  • Participate in continuing education/professional development activities.
  • Communicate and demonstrate a professional image/attitude for patients, families, coworkers and others.
  • Adhere to policies and practices of applicable professional organizations, hospital and Bon Secours Virginia Health System.
  • Contribute to relations and marketing activities.

Team Area

  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Contribute to development of improved efficiency and productivity of program clinical/administrative functions.
  • Participates as a team member by performing additional assignments not directly related to the job description when workload requires and as requested by supervisor.
