    Scott Humphrey has partnered with a large and reputable general contractor to find a Project Accounting Manager for their headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

    As a Project Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of the company's construction projects, ensuring accurate accounting practices, and providing strategic financial guidance.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, project management, and team leadership.

    This role requires exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


    Responsibilities:
    Oversee all financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting. Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and controls specific to the construction industry.
    Manage project cost accounting activities, including tracking and analyzing project costs, revenue recognition, and profitability. Review and analyze project financial data, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, change orders, and other project-related costs. Provide accurate and timely reporting to project stakeholders.
    Develop and manage project budgets and financial forecasts.

    Conduct financial analysis to evaluate project performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations for cost control and profitability optimization.

    Present financial analysis to senior management and project teams.
    Review and analyze construction contracts to ensure compliance with accounting standards, revenue recognition principles, and project-specific accounting requirements.

    Collaborate with project managers and legal teams to assess financial risks, negotiate contract terms, and provide guidance on financial implications.

    Lead and manage a team of project accountants and financial analysts. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to develop their skills and ensure accurate and timely project accounting.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, estimators, engineers, and executives, to gather financial data, support decision-making, and achieve project goals.

    Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and financial analysis. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to project stakeholders, senior management, and external parties as required.
    Monitor project cash flow, analyze funding requirements, and optimize cash flow management. Coordinate with project teams to ensure adequate funding, timely billing, and collection of receivables. Mitigate financial risks and identify opportunities for improvement.
    Continuously assess project accounting processes, systems, and controls to identify opportunities for efficiency, accuracy, and automation. Implement process improvements and best practices to streamline financial operations and enhance overall effectiveness.
    Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations specific to the construction industry. Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support. Implement corrective actions as required.

    Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on project accounting in the construction industry.
    Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, including GAAP and industry-specific standards.
    Proven experience in project management and team leadership.
    Extensive experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Viewpoint, or similar).
    Proficiency in financial analysis tools and advanced Excel skills.
    In-depth understanding of construction contracts, revenue recognition, project costing, and change order management.
    Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
    Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate with stakeholders.
    Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
    Experience in process improvement, system implementations, and driving operational efficiencies.
