Founded in 1972, The Door's mission is to empower young people to reach their potential by providing comprehensive youth development services in a diverse and caring environment.

Each year up to 11,000 young people from across New York City come to The Door for health care, legal services, supportive housing, HSE, ESL, tutoring and homework help, college preparation and computer classes, career & education services, job placement, daily meals, cultural arts, and services - all under one roof.


The Door's Adolescent Health Center offers comprehensive health services, including primary care, sexual health and reproductive care, mental health services, eye care, dental services, dermatology, and nutrition counseling for all Door members.


Position Overview:

The Patient Service Associate is an integral part of the health center team. This crucial position is the first point of contact a young person makes with the health center. The incumbent should possess excellent interpersonal and communication, and organizational skills.


Responsibilities:


  • Greet and welcome young people, answer the telephone, schedule appointments, and overall, provide patients with an excellent patient experience in the health center
  • Screen patients to determine appointments, medical needs, or other service requests
  • Maintain, prepare and copy/fax medical record requests
  • Utilize ePACES (Medicaid website), determine Medicaid eligibility and identify insurance plans
  • Register patients, assemble medical record forms and request pertinent information
  • Scan and file patient documents in the patient's medical record in eClinicalWorks
  • Responsible for the collection and distribution of mail for the health center
  • Participates in patientcentered medical home care team collaboration, including team huddles.
  • Performs other related tasks as requested by supervisor

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of High School Diploma or High School Equivalency required
  • Administrative Medical Assistant preferred 2 years of administrative, operations or clinical support experience required


  • Bilingual required

  • English / Spanish or English / French
  • Ability to establish a good rapport and to provide excellent customer service with young people, staff, vendors, and guests
  • Tech savvy including EMR experience (preferably eClinicalworks), Microsoft (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other software programs
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Data entry experience and/or strong typing skills preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a facepaced health center environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Bilingual, Spanish or French required

Work Schedule:
Full time, Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, on site, 35 hours a week
