Primary Purpose:
Provide the Budget Director and Chief Financial Officer with professional assistance in the areas of auditing, budgeting and accounting. Provide leadership and oversight to campus and departmental staff on matters related to activity funds.

Education / Certification:

Bachelor's Degree is required with a major in accounting or finance preferred.
TASBO certification is preferred.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

Microsoft Excel and Word proficient.
Ability to communicate and work with people at various levels.
Ability to manage budgets, accounting and personnel.
Ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvements.
Knowledge of State/Federal laws and regulations.
Knowledge of local policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental staff and campus budget managers.

Experience / Other Requirements:

One year of professional accounting/finance or related experience.
Financial experience in school business or another governmental entity is preferred.
Personal cell phone is required to handle district related business, including after hours, or when away from the office on district business.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensures the District's accounting systems operate in accordance with the Financial Accountability System Resource Guide and generally accepted accounting principles.
Oversees and assists campuses and departments with all aspects of activity funds.
Manages the financial aspects of the District's American Express account.
Audit and retain records pertaining to financial information related to District Booster Clubs including annual audit reports, financial statements, current officer lists, current bylaws, 990 tax returns, tax ID numbers, C) status, and general manuals.
Responsible for all aspects of the utility budget including preparation, projections, revisions, amendments, cost analysis, and necessary journals.
Creates payment requests for all utility expenses and maintains current usage records in Energy Manager.
Assists facilities with new utility accounts and receives notification of service discrepancies as it pertains to credits and monthly invoices
Audits and prepares necessary reports related to the financial accounting of District Capital Assets.
Assists with internal audits such as staffing by preparing journals, budget revisions and budget amendments based on findings.
Prepares reports and other necessary documentation for the year-end audit.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Budget Director.

School Organizational

Works closely with all staff to facilitate the educational process by accurately and efficiently conducting school business.
Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and serves as a role model for all District staff.
Reviews current procedures with suggestions for increased efficiency and accuracy.

Professional Growth and Development

Develops needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
Continues updating skills through finance and accounting classes.
Maintains current knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting.
Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance, and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
