    Summary

    Responsible for various accounting activities, while engaging in the accurate and timely posting of journal entries to general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers, including the completion of assigned Balance Sheet account reconciliations. Also assists the Accounting Manager in timely and accurate end-of-month close process and preparation of financial reports.

    Primary Duties

    1. Monitors and prepares end of day settlement transfers as deemed necessary between Corporate Credit Union (Corp CU) Cash Management account, Federal Reserve Bank (FRB), and Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) ensuring no occurrence of overdraft balances.
    2. Compares scanned checks for all branches between systems.
    3. Prepares weekly Cash Order with Loomis for Branches and ATM replenishments ensuring Branch Change Fund (CF) limitations are not exceeded.
    4. Handles the daily Positive Pay Process for all Official Checks, Money Orders and Escrow Checks. Ensures any discrepancies identified are resolved in timely and accurate manner.
    5. Reviews all daily settlement entries and prepares related journal entries including, but not limited to: MasterCard and Visa Cash Advance Settlement, Cash Order Settlement, Payroll Settlement, etc.
    6. Assists with the month end close process by analyzing data received and processing journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
    7. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations in Blackline account reconciliation software in a timely and accurate manner ensuring all appropriate backup is attached along with any necessary commentary on reconciling items certifying completion accordingly. Ensures any discrepancies are identified and resolved timely consulting with other departments as deemed appropriate.
    8. Primary back up of Staff Accountant – AP. Performs AP process at least once to a month to ensure knowledge and training on AP stays current.
    9. Performs other departmental functions in a backup capacity for Finance Department staff as needed.
    10. Responsible for updating policies and procedures as changes to processes are made, thereby keeping them current and accurate.
    11. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education
    Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, preferred.

    Experience

    Minimum of two (2) years' experience in accounting, preferably in the financial institution industry.

    Skills

    Must have the following skills and/or abilities:

    • Strong working knowledge of writing and updating policies and procedures.
    • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills (both oral and written).
    • Ability to multi-task effectively.
    • Ability to perform a variety of routine accounting duties in an accurate and timely manner.

    Physical/Other Requirements

    Must be able to:

    • Stand or sit for long periods of time.
    • Lift 10-20 lbs.
