- Have experience in blood draws, labeling and centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, updating patient information, among others.
- Properly collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Clear and courteous explanation of the venipuncture and specimen collection process.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles or butterfly needles.
- Thorough understanding of physicians' orders and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Ensure accuracy in checking test requisitions and labeling.
- Properly package specimens for transport.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend department trainings, and handle inquiries.
- Hold a valid Phlebotomy certification for Washington state.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience in venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED with 0-2 years of experience.
