- Experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.
- Properly explains the process of venipuncture and specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.
- Checks all test requisitions against script to ensure accuracy.
- Packages specimens for transport and stores them according to required procedures.
- Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attends annual department trainings and answers telephone inquiries.
- Minimum Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of Washington.
- Minimum of 6 months' work experience in venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED with 2-4 years of experience.
