    Description

    The Buckley School, an all-boys K-9 school located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is seeking applicants for a Latin and English leave replacement in the 7th and 8th grades. This position will begin in mid-September 2024 and continue through December months).

    The role entails teaching one section of seventh-grade Latin, two half-sections of eighth-grade Latin, and one section of seventh-grade English. The Buckley School's Latin program stands out for its depth, pace, rigor, and excellent preparation for success in secondary school.

    Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Latin at the middle and/or secondary school levels. Buckley's seventh-grade English program focuses on writing, grammar, reading, and critical thinking. Graduates of the program are sought after by secondary schools for their strong writing skills, command of grammar and syntax, and thoughtful contributions to their humanities classes.

    We seek a team player who will collaborate with colleagues to offer an exciting, rigorous curriculum. Excellent writing, academic technology, and communication skills are vital. The successful candidate will recognize the unique opportunities afforded by an all-boys educational context, in addition to having a demonstrated passion for this content, this age range, and for the art and science of teaching and learning. Collaboration, collegiality, and adaptability are essential.
