Overview:
Campus Education (Elmhurst) is looking for an energetic and creative part-time ESL/English as a Second Language instructor. We are seeking an ESL instructor who can deliver instruction using the communicative method.


Description:
Prepare course materials and design lessons that cover all aspects of the English language, whether written or verbal. They keep track of student progress and customize individualized plans for students with special requirements. They're also responsible for creating a positive class environment and encouraging students to reach their learning goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Organizing coursework and learning materials
  • Following national and regional policies for teaching English as a second language
  • Prepare student progress reports and maintain accurate attendance records and records of assignments and assessments.
  • Facilitate the development of students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Build students' knowledge and accurate use of grammar, syntax, vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms, and collocations.
  • Create lesson plans for active and relevant studentcentered work.
  • Participate in regular professional development workshops and faculty meetings.
  • Assist with placement testing and student assessments (when needed)
  • Work with fellow faculty members on lesson planning and events.
  • Previous experience as an ESL teacher or similar role
  • Knowledge of various methods of teaching English to nonnative speakers
  • Great organizational and communication skills
  • A calm and resilient personality
  • Ability to handle classroom crises.
  • ESL or TESOL certification
  • Degree in English Language, English Literature, or similar field

Available Shifts:
Morning/Evening; Monday to Friday; Weekends as needed.


Salary:
$20-$25 per hour of classroom teaching (depending on experience, credentials, and schedule).
