    Job Description

    Currently, we are in search of an adept General Manager to join our team in Appleton, WI. Holding the esteemed position of being the third-largest ink manufacturer in the United States, the General Manager will oversee and coordinate all production, technical, distribution, sales, and administrative activities of the Plant. The role endeavors to optimize personnel utilization to achieve superior sales, quality, and profits for the company's advancement. Your primary task would involve embodying our Corporate Vision and Guiding Principles to drive unparalleled customer and employee satisfaction. Furthermore, your responsibilities will encompass shaping and realizing long-term objectives and goals, along with communicating company policies, guidelines, procedures, and visionary directives to all subordinate staff.

    As a General Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
    • Collaborating with the Director of Operations to devise a comprehensive manufacturing program focused on maximizing equipment efficiency, maintaining adequate warehousing, executing preventive maintenance, ensuring optimal manpower deployment, adhering to repair and overhaul schedules, with a core emphasis on cost control, facilities management, resource utilization, and impeccable quality and customer service
    • Supervising and implementing approved manufacturing programs, working closely with personnel to analyze and rectify significant deviations from the plans
    • Providing updates to the Director of Operations regarding key phases of the manufacturing program and taking proactive steps to accelerate the realization of plant activity objectives
    • Addressing production issues and organizing the necessary personnel and equipment to meet production schedules efficiently
    • Reviewing and endorsing proposed production schedules before commitments are finalized
    • Assessing performance and production reports, and taking requisite actions based on the outcomes
    • Fostering a 'quality-consciousness and pride-of-workmanship' culture across the manufacturing organization to drive quality objectives
    • Monitoring quality and customer reports, and ensuring prompt completion of Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions when needed
    • Collaborating with branch personnel and Corporate R&D to make pivotal decisions impacting technical activities within the plant and the company
    • Working with the Director of Operations to establish optimal inventory levels for stock items and leveraging spot business opportunities for streamlined branch operations
    • Regularly inspecting inventory handling and storage methods to ensure compliance with procedures and taking corrective measures to rectify any deficiencies
    • Building robust customer relationships to enhance understanding of customer product requirements and operational challenges, thereby improving customer service standards
    • Instilling an awareness of how individual operation phases impact operating costs within the manufacturing and technical departments
    • Guiding personnel accountable for planning departmental performance against the budget to anticipate and mitigate potential losses
    • Collaborating with Corporate personnel and individuals driving new or enhanced methods, equipment, or procedures to drive cost-saving initiatives
    • Implementing a proactive employee development strategy to facilitate the professional growth of each team member in their current role and foster progression based on their capabilities
    • Establishing an effective performance feedback system to ensure immediate recognition by supervisors for job accuracy and prompt feedback on errors
    Qualifications

    To excel in this role, you must:
    • Possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a 4-year college, preferably in Business Management or Engineering
    • Have 5 to 10 years' experience in line supervision or management roles, ideally in a manufacturing setting, and 3 - 5 years of experience in the ink industry
    • Demonstrate proficiency in manufacturing, warehouse operations, and supervisory/managerial responsibilities
    • Showcase mechanical acumen and a deep understanding of production processes
    • Display excellent mathematical skills, as well as strong oral and written communication abilities, enabling you to craft reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals
    • Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs (MS Office) and other computer skills
    • Show prior experience in leading, coaching, and developing teams, while driving performance metrics through effective leadership
    • Demonstrate a robust understanding of manufacturing principles such as OEE, Lean, or TPM
    Having the following qualities will be considered advantageous:
    • Familiarity with SAP
    • Ability to deliver information effectively and respond to queries from various groups
    • Previous exposure to production or manufacturing environments
    • Experience in change management
