    Description

    Job Overview

    Assists center staff in various duties at a Head Start center according to Head Start Performance Standards, Child Care Licensing Regulations, USDA, and other applicable standards under the direct supervision of a Head Start Teacher.

    Salary

    Minimum: $15.45

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Implements child-directed and teacher-directed activities.
    • Provides healthy and safe activities appropriate for children.
    • Assists with enrollment, attendance record keeping, and playground supervision.
    • Assists with learning experiences, indoor play activities, field trips, music and art, hygiene, and nutrition programs.
    • Organizes materials for classroom activities.
    • Provides clerical assistance, participates in parent meetings, and attends training sessions.
    • Documents instances of child abuse as required by law.
    • Performs other related duties.

    Job Specifications

    • Knowledge of preschool children's development.
    • Ability to interact with children and parents, keep records, follow instructions, and work effectively with others.
    • Patience, good judgment, resourcefulness, and reliability.

    Physical Requirements

    • Kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor.
    • Providing physical assistance in the transportation of special needs children.

    Work Category

    • Medium work - Exerting force to move objects.

    Minimum Qualifications Required

    • High school graduation or GED certificate.
    • Six months experience working with preschool children.
    • Enrolled in and actively pursuing Child Development Associate credentials (CDA) within 2 years of hire.
    • Obtain 40 clock hours from Florida Department of Children and Families.
    • Certification in First Aid and CPR within 12 months of hire.
    • Valid Florida Driver's License.

    Emergency Management Responsibilities

    In emergencies, employees may be assigned duties by the department or County's Office of Emergency Management.

    Additional Job Requirements

    • Maintain ability to pass required background checks.
    • Possess necessary job-related licenses or certifications.
