- Provide comprehensive nursing care to students with acute or chronic health conditions, disabilities, or other special needs.
- Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify health concerns and develop individualized care plans for students.
- Administer medications, treatments, and specialized procedures as prescribed by healthcare providers, adhering to state regulations and school policies.
- Develop and implement Individual Health Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) in collaboration with parents/guardians and school staff.
- Monitor and maintain student health records, including immunization records, medication administration logs, and medical histories, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed, coordinating with emergency medical services and communicating with parents/guardians and school administrators.
- Educate students, families, and school staff on health-related topics, including disease prevention, medication management, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including teachers, therapists, counselors, and administrators, to promote a healthy and safe learning environment for all students.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida.
- Minimum of one year of recent experience working as a school nurse or in pediatric nursing.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with local and state regulations for school nurses and healthcare providers.
