- Applies technical skills with minimal guidance from others and often works independently.
- Effectively works closely with safety, estimating, operations, business development, project controls, equipment, and others to ensure success in the bid estimation and proposal preparation process for concrete construction projects.
- Conducts investigation of potential project sites.
- Performs review/analysis of plans, specs, permits, and other contract documents in order to capture all costs and risks associated with the project in the estimate or proposal clarifications.
- Prepares and/or reviews written Proposals for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates.
- Performs quantity take-offs to develop a basis for cost estimates.
- Contacts material suppliers and subcontractors to solicit quotations.
- Coordinates with vendors and subcontractors to ensure scope letters and quotes are received ASAP and are in compliance with bid form and per plan specifications.
- Analyzes company resources based on project schedule requirements.
- Develops project schedules for estimates.
- Prepares cost estimates in computer software efficiently.
- Organizes estimates, quotations, notes, plans, and other pertinent information for bid reviews and often leads discussion during bid reviews.
- Develops and maintains cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods and production rates.
- Develops and maintains estimating procedures and guidelines.

Description
Job DescriptionTAS Commercial Concretehas an immediate opening for aSenior Estimator, inTampa, FL.This position is accountable for analysis of project plans, specifications, soils reports and other related project information to prepare cost estimates including, but not limited to, materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. This position is office based with some travel to job sites as required.
The incumbent must be able to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure success in the bid proposal process. The incumbent may also be responsible for the training and management of other Estimators.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
A minimum of five (5) years field and/or estimating experience in structural and light commercial concrete construction, or equivalent work experience required. BS Degree in Construction Management or related discipline.Field experience preferred.
In addition, the incumbent must have:
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, InEight, ICE, OST, and/or MS Project.
Ability to learn new computer skills efficiently.
Ability to perform in high-stress situations and meet tight deadlines.
Problem solving and critical thinking skills for project efficiency.
Ability to understand scope requirements based on project documents and customer communication.
Time management and organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
This individual must also have the ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate.
The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
