    As the primary Legal Assistant (Office Automation) in the area of Organized Crime, Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), you will serve as the focal point in providing expert advice on legal support work and will perform the most difficult and complex support assignments for Assistant U.S.

    Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Criminal Division in the Sacramento office.

    Duties include (but are not limited to):

    • Recommend and implement internal procedures relating to legal assistance functions in the area of expertise (OCDETF).
    • Examine and make substantive processing determinations or initiate other actions based on analysis of the situation or circumstances behind the documentation submitted.
    • Research case files and/or make appropriate inquiries to AUSAs, other legal support staff, and/or agents to identify and maintain the status of cases with organized crime/drug activity.
    • Prepare various forms and reports in accordance with OCDETF directives and office policy.
    • Analyze information received from AUSAs to determine required legal documents needed and ensure preparation necessary to complete files.
    • Monitor and track OCDETF activity within the Eastern District of California.
    • Perform research of case activity, compile data and prepare reports for submission to Core City Coordinator.
    • Plan, organize, and coordinate events to promote the OCDETF program.
    Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

    Qualifications

    Note:
    In order to be considered "qualified" for this position, your specialized experience must be described in your resume.     GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level.

    Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties:


    preparing documents required for OCDETF litigation, and/or experience supporting attorneys assigned to OCDETF litigation, to include preparing legal documents and correspondence for OCDETF cases.


    GS-8: To be eligible at the GS-8 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level.


    Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: performing complex assistance work such as reviewing reports, performing legal research to verify citations and statutory references or to prepare case summaries, tracking and reporting on complex data, preparing documents required for OCDETF investigations and/or reports, experience coordinating and scheduling task force or other events; and/or experience directly supporting attorneys assigned to OCDETF, to include preparing legal documents and correspondence for OCDETF cases.


    To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

    (A typing test may later be required.)


    Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
