AZTEC is seeking a Railway Project Engineer in our Phoenix, AZ office to support our growing team In this role, you will be an integral part of AZTEC's Rail and Transit group by working on high-profile projects including high-speed rail, commuter rail, metro, light rail, streetcar, and bus rapid transit throughout North America and mainly in Arizona and California.
The Project Engineer will be involved with the production and coordination of several projects concurrently. This position performs a full range of professional railway engineering assignments in a full-functioning capacity. Considerable independent judgment is required to carry out assignments that have an impact on services or programs.
Guidelines may be available to complete the project, but each project will require adaptation or interpretation of the guidelines to determine appropriate courses of action.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically proficient, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and is team oriented. The ideal candidate is also willing to travel periodically.Duties:
Prepare railway and transit designs including development of plans and specifications
Responsible for the completion of high-quality rail and transit engineering projects on budget and schedule with a high level of customer satisfaction
Ensure that all design documents, reports, inspections, and information required to serve the client are properly prepared and reported
Ensure client schedules are met
Support the Senior Project Managers through the entire project's development to complete documents on schedule
Preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, specifications, and project plans
Guidelines may be available but require adaptation or interpretation to determine appropriate courses of action
Availability to support the TYPSA Group Railway Department in overseas projects
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of experience on Rail and Transit projects and preferred with experience with Arizona
transportation/transit
agencies, including Valley Metro and Amtrak as well as Class I railroads operating in the region
Arizona PE certification or ability to obtain Arizona PE within 6 months of hire
Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
Primavera and Project Wise software is a plus
Local experience in Phoenix is highly preferred
