    The Office of Health Services Research in the School of Public Health at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Program Coordinator.

    About the Opportunity


    This position will report to the Assistant Director of the WVU Office of Health Services Research (OHSR) and will be responsible for implementing and managing priority activities to assure continued program growth and innovation.

    The Program Coordinator works independently in the field to build sustainable community-based programs to reduce the burden of Arthritis and other chronic diseases with a special focus on organizations that serve our elderly population.

    In addition, this position will support other OHSR goals such as:

    developing referral systems, health improvement initiatives and continuing education activities for workers involved in health care and social services.

    This position will also provide leadership in guiding strategic planning, project implementation, publications and dissemination, and grant writing for OHSR.

    What you'll do:

    Quality of care improvement, research, and dissemination:

    • Build sustainable community-based programs to reduce or help manage arthritis and other chronic disease conditions such as diabetes and HTN.
    • Build referral systems designed to support community and clinic programs.
    • Lead the design and implementation of qualitative research efforts with clinic and community-based partners.
    • Design and implement program evaluation efforts to demonstrate program impact and support continuous quality improvement.
    • Train and educate primary care center partners and community-based organization partners on data collection methods, data interpretation and presentation, quality improvement processes, and application of data to improving health outcomes.
    • Support development of grants, peer-reviewed publications, white papers, and other data briefs.
    • Provide oral presentations to funders and stakeholders and state and national conferences.

    Office operations, growth and development:

    • Responsible for tracking progress of plans and coordinating with subject matter experts to assure that program expectations are met in conjunction with the Director of the WVU Office of Health Services Research.
    • Develop integrated programs, facilitate schedules and compile reports as requested by the Director of the WVU Office of Health Services Research.
    • Provide leadership in identifying opportunities for program innovation and growth.
    • Participate as a key partner in the development, implementation and improvement of policies and procedures to support office growth and funding deliverables.
    • Consistently monitor program progress to ensure that the program is on schedule as planned and moderate any project lag in the schedule by applying project management principles as appropriate.
    • Prepare program status and progress reports as required to keep the team, management and designated others informed in a timely manner of any emerging risks or other issues that might directly impact the center.
    • Conduct or lead periodic meetings to keep all team members informed on new procedures and evaluate current progress on funded priorities.
    • Develop and maintain office structure/organizational settings in accordance with institutional, state, and federal guidelines. In coordination with office leadership, assess problems and direct corrective action when appropriate.
    • May arrange, implement, and conduct (as directed) meetings, courses, training seminars, advisory boards and special events.
    • Bachelor's degree in public health, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively effective experience in program or project management/coordination and working with community-based organizations.
    • Demonstrated program management/coordination experience with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
    • Group facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution skills; established skillset in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
    • Strong ability to multi-task multiple projects at the same time.
    • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques and tools.
    • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals.
    • Demonstrated ability to create and produce clear, concise paper and electronic documents.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and to coordinate participation of team members from various backgrounds.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Strong leadership/managerial skills.
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in public health preferred.
    • Experience in higher education or public sector.
