Description:
Under general administrative direction of the Public WorksDirector, plans and supervises the activities of the EngineeringDivision. Oversees traffic engineering activities includingconducting traffic engineering and transportation planningstudies and preparing traffic control plans. Oversees developmentreview, improvement plan and final map process includingpreparation of property/subdivision improvement agreements.
Coordinates assigned activities and programs with otherdivisions, departments, and outside agencies. Provides complextechnical and administrative support to the Public WorksDirector. This is an exempt, mid-management level position withdirect management and supervisory responsibilities for theEngineering Division and assigned personnel. May act in theabsence of or at the discretion of the Public Works Director asdirected/authorized.

Will be a visionary thinker, innovative, and inspiring withexceptional management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
It will be important to effectively lead in a dynamicenvironment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experienceoverseeing and managing CIP projects and timelines, overseeingland development, working with cutting-edge technology, have adesire to manage challenging and exciting projects, and thrive ina busy environment.
The ideal candidate will support the directorwith engaging division employees to embrace the goals andworkplans of the division and achieve results.
Will lead byexample and serve as a coach and mentor to members of theEngineering Division team.You will bring extensive knowledge ofcurrent trends and best practices that impact and influence allaspects of transportation and municipal engineering, interactwith the community, present at council, commission, and communitymeetings, and build relationships with neighboring agencies asthe City of Gilroy is rapidly expanding.
