VP Manufacturing Engineering and NPI Engineering

Job Purpose:

VP Manufacturing Engineering / NPI Engineering. Must be able to perform essential duties that include the following; other duties may be assigned.


Nature of Duties / Responsibilities

  • The Manufacturing Engineer VP position leads plant wide yield improvement initiatives in a complex high mix, mid volume environment
  • Analyze and implement strategies for overall yield improvement and best practices.
  • Work closely with and set direction for Quality and Process Engineering teams to determine root cause failures and the associated corrective actions.
  • Assure the QA system is enforced and that all defective or out of specification processes are made compliant through RCA/CA activities.
  • Develops a culture of strong engineering discipline through the use of advanced quality tools such as FMEAs, DOE's, SPC and process modeling
  • Analyzes data, identifies opportunities and leads cross functional teams to implement robust processes utilizing structured problem solving techniques.
  • Works closely with the General Manager to ensure the engineering organization's goals are aligned with the plant and company objectives
  • Establishes technical priorities, supports development of plant quality systems and utilizes his/her experience and resources to best meet process
- improvement initiatives, quality objectives and profitability objectives of the organization

  • Relentlessly pursuing cost reductions through manufacturing process efficiencies, while maintaining product form, fit, function and quality, to drive profitability

Works with the team on the details to define process capabilities, process instructions, operator instructions, control plans and continuous improvements initiatives.


  • Collaborating with Manufacturing to demonstrate process capability and document control limits/strategies and operator work instructions on all processes and equipment
  • Collaborates with peers in operations, quality and maintenance organizations to ensure cross functional solutions and mutual support
  • Participates and may lead operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield improvement and capability advancement
  • Works effectively with equipment manufacturers and material suppliers to identify opportunities to improve yields and capability through new techniques, equipment upgrades and cutting edge technology investments.
  • Stays abreast of technology trends both within and outside the PCB industry
  • Leads customer calls and visits as required

Education and Experience:


  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related engineering discipline. MS preferred but not required
  • Strong business sense and ability to make good decisions based on resources, cost and cycle times
  • Engineering experience in printed circuit board plating processes
  • Strong communication and leadership skills required, must have the ability to provide clear direction to process engineers
  • Must be comfortable working with customers, Customer interfacing experience preferred
  • Strong computer Skills including MS Office Suite
  • Ability to create technical presentations
  • Ability to adapt to a changing and dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • 12+ years of process engineering experience in electronics manufacturing Printed Circuit Board Manufacturing experience Preferred
  • 5+ years of process engineering management experience
  • Experience in utilizing data to drive process and productivity improvements

Salary Range (annual): $150, $185,000.00
