    Title of Position: Young Adult Income Building Specialist

    About the Job:

    The Young Adult Income Building Specialist plays a crucial role in guiding youth and young adults towards career opportunities and job training.

    In this position, you will coordinate programs aimed at enhancing job readiness, facilitating job placements, and providing supplemental educational support to the youth and young adult population.

    Responsibilities:
    • Engage actively with youth and young adults through educational outreach and advocacy for job readiness.
    • Organize career development events such as informative college sessions and client participation in college fairs and tours.
    • Lead employment readiness and resume writing workshops.
    • Identify employer resources including Summer Youth Employment Programs (SYEP) for youth.
    • Collaborate with social service staff to ensure teens receive valuable workshop and job information.
    • Maintain accurate client data in the Uniform Client Chart.
    • Ensure youth involvement in workshops, training initiatives, and employment opportunities.
    • Work with the Volunteer Services Department to establish a pool of volunteer tutors.
    • Implement evidence-based practices (EBP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma Informed Care (TIC), family-centered case management, and boundary setting.
    • Participate in shelter meetings, agency-wide gatherings, and mandated staff training sessions.
    • Flexible schedule including evenings, one Saturday per month, and scheduled holidays.
    • Collaborate with various departments to promote best practices for engaging and supporting youth and young adults in the transitional housing program.
    • Develop employment and internship opportunities through community partnerships.
    • Accompany youth to job fairs and career-related events.
    • Conduct regular client meetings and maintain detailed documentation of provided services.
    • Perform additional assigned job duties as needed.
    Essential Functions:
    • Ability to navigate stairs in the building.
    • Accompany clients to appointments and events using public transportation.
    Qualifications:
    • Dedication to the company's mission, vision, and values.
    • BA/BS degree required with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in job placement and career coaching.
    • Prior experience in social services especially with homeless teens and young adults is advantageous.
    • Proven ability to engage employers and individuals to provide tailored services for youth and young adults.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
    • Proficiency in English/Spanish would be beneficial.
