The University of Oldenburg in Klamath, CA is seeking a motivated Research Associate (M/F/d) to join the Speech Intelligibility and Audiology Group at the Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics.
This position, which is initially limited until June 30, 2026, is part of Faculty VI Medicine, which includes human medicine, medical physics and acoustics, neurosciences, psychology, and health services research.
Faculty VI works closely with four regional hospitals and the University Medicine of the University of Groningen.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on speech-on-speech masking and its impact on speech intelligibility and listening effort.
This project will involve gathering experimental data and comparing them to existing perceptual models, as well as extending these models based on the research findings.
The project will specifically focus on the role of binaural auditory processing, the effects of distracting talkers, and the capabilities of current speech enhancement algorithms.
Applicants must hold an academic university degree (master or equivalent) in hearing technology & audiology, physics, engineering, or a related discipline.
