- Design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot security and network solutions in multi-cloud environments like AWS/Azure.
- Enhance security controls on firewalls and cloud-based WAFs, collaborating with the Network Team.
- Monitor and respond to performance issues across systems and applications.
- Deploy rigorous solutions using commercial and open-source tools to defend against emerging threats.
- Adopt cybersecurity framework standards across the network and application stack.
- Monitor and respond to events and alerts to detect suspicious activities.
- Develop and implement workflows to update and maintain configurations across protected infrastructure.
- Collaborate with incident responders and Security team members in investigating suspicious activities.
- Participate in adversary emulation tabletop exercises to enhance detection and response capabilities.
- Review vulnerability and penetration test results to improve network security posture.
- 5+ years of experience in security and network engineering/architecture in Azure/AWS.
- Proficiency in security engineering principles and NIST framework.
- Experience with VPNs, WAFs, NGFW, IDS/IPS, Proxies, DNS, PKI, NAC.
- Thorough understanding of network protocols and flows for anomaly identification.
- Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure and architecture in Azure and AWS.
- Knowledge in configuring and managing Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Firewalls/Switches.
- Familiarity with Ticketing and Design tools like Jira, Confluence, and LucidChart.
- General understanding of threat intelligence, DDoS, bots, and CDNs.
- Familiarity with regulations such as PCI, SOX, and CCPA, and scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Bash.

Summary
The role of a network security engineer is to work collaboratively with the cybersecurity team in designing, implementing, and monitoring controls for infrastructure and applications in both on-premises and cloud environments. The engineer plays a crucial role in securing the company's complex infrastructure by enforcing robust policies and configurations to defend against threats effectively. In addition, they focus on ensuring the resiliency of the business operations and continuously adapt to the evolving threat landscape. Working as part of a team, network security engineers share information, validate systems, and collaborate to mitigate security risks. Their responsibilities also include understanding infrastructure dependencies, implementing best practices, and supporting the NIST security framework.
