JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be accountable for effectively leading the terminal operations to include: planning, execution, dispatch and delivery of all products to our customers.

This leader will be responsible for all location business matters and network collaboration.

Their accountabilities include key performance areas:

  • Operational focus on revenue per truck and total miles, reducing empty miles, and working tractor plan
  • Oversee driver recruitment, retention, and development
  • Safety focus every day in all areas of the terminal and on the road
  • Drive customer satisfaction and growth, providing outstanding service, leveraging existing customers and adding new customers
  • Leads their designated terminal while effectively collaborating within the Action Resources network
  • Creating and maintaining a great culture of success and team development
The terminal manager will be responsible to meet and exceed their terminal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Operations, Retention, Safety & Compliance, Customer Service, Financials and annual goals and objectives


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage P&L, identify and develop tactical actions to correct and implement
  • Ensures maximum driver and asset utilization with the focus on revenue per truck, load counts, and maximizing the P & L
  • Leads terminal performance; forecasts, monitors and executes daily performance plan. Takes corrective action to meet terminal/network goals and objectives
  • Represent the terminal on initiatives, serves as the liaison for company drivers, owner operators and terminal associates
  • Manage work flow throughout the terminal
  • Coordinate maintenance for a fleet of tractors, trailers and specialized equipment
  • Analyze data, create, prepare and distribute reports and information
  • Promotes and develops safe work behaviors through effective communication, implementation and followup of the company's safety programs and objectives
  • Responsible for terminal drivers safety performance including implementation of safety initiatives and attendance of safety classes
  • Collaborate and support the sales team in managing existing, targeting and supporting new business opportunities
  • Integrate transportation services seamlessly into our customer's supply chain
  • Successfully manage daily customer and client relationships at all levels resolving customer issues and service opportunities effectively
  • Collaborate with Recruiting and Safety ensuring the hiring of quality driver associates
  • Effectively onboard drivers and associates to terminal processes
  • Approve all invoices for payment and oversee purchasing of supplies and office services
  • Develop and mentor staff through performance evaluation and effective coaching
  • Responsible for fostering a positive culture
  • Responsible for team members completing any assigned training and ensuring that employees are competent for the tasks assigned to perform.
  • Abide by and provide feedback for continuous improvement of all EHSS policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Additional duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the transportation field
  • 5+ years of Transportation Operations experience required
  • Previous Tank Trailer and Hazardous Waste Transportation experience preferred
  • 2+ years of Fleet Managementleadership of drivers required
  • Demonstrated teamleadership and development
  • Transportation Management Software (ie: TMW, McLeod)
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and procedures
  • Experience with satellite communications processes (Qualcomm) desired
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • Driver's license required
