    Transportation Operations Manager

    **Position Summary:** Directs and coordinates activities of the transportation department to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel. Ensures the efficient flow of donated materials from receipt of donations, distribution of donated materials and allocation of donated material. Maintains excellent working relationships with all employees and management. Acts as a support function to Operations.

    Adherence to the attendance and punctuality policies of Goodwill.

    Executes operations plan to achieve required targeted growth in daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for the Transportation Department.

    Analyzes department operations; identifies and maintains cost effective operations to achieve bottom line budget against target.

    Drives process improvement and cost savings initiatives through evaluating current processes, identifying best practices, and developing plans to reach goals and implement improvements.

    Manages and oversees technology systems such as Vonigo, Inventory Management, Electronic Login Device, etc. to ensure effective daily operations of the department

    Manages and reviews financial information and maintains the budget within parameters

    Exhibit excellent customer service skills as related to this position.

    Allocates transportation equipment and personnel to optimize the efficient movement and storage of donated goods. Coordinates all distribution and delivery schedules, including route and date coordination of trucks and semi- trailers.

    Accurate and timely processing of paperwork/documentation such as payable s, packing slips, bills of lading, receiving, internal documents, control copies, daily equipment checklists and logs. Accountable to ensure that documentation is received by the appropriate departments and managers.

    Quality control of donations for distribution to retail, including prudent handling of materials, receiving, inspecting, verifying and rejecting donations.

    Coordinates the pickup and delivery of salvage materials, including weight verification and documentation of same, ensure that documentation is submitted timely to the Finance department.

    Assures that the dock, warehouse, outside storage areas and shipping/receiving areas are maintained in an orderly and safety compliant manner.

    Supervises and coordinates off-site warehouse activities to ensure efficient storage and rotation of goods.

    Schedules preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment and makes arrangements for maintenance that is not scheduled.

    Tracks drivers performance, drivers speed, and loading/unloading times and documents as appropriate.

    Manages compliance efforts for all DOT regulations.

    Analyzes and makes recommendations for GINMs transportation fleet with regards to maintenance, purchasing, leasing etc.

    Ensures HIPAA compliance.

    Responsible for the safety of all persons served and staff under his/her supervision.

    Responsible for CARF compliance and maintaining standards in areas of responsibility.

    Implements CARF standards into all programs and follows professional ethics as set in the Code of Conduct/Business Ethics policy.

    Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

    Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

    Ensures that suitable quantities of containers are available to meet organizational needs.

    Coordinates compactor operations, compactor pickups in a timely manner as to not interrupt business operations.

    **Supervisory Responsibilities:** Directly supervised assigned personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations polices and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance: rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    **Not a care giver position:** This position does not provide direct care or have routine unsupervised physical or financial access to care recipients served by Goodwill Industries of New Mexico.

    **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

    Knowledge of organizational practices, policies and procedures and compliance with same.

    Knowledge of and compliance with all safety policies and procedures

    Knowledge of DOT regulations.

    Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.

    Ability to prepare accurate, complete and legible reports and to create and present detailed and effective speeches and presentations.

    Ability to exhibit excellent customer service skills.

    Ability to read, write and understand English.

    Ability to carry out instructions in verbal and written format.

    Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and people with disabilities.

    Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    Ability to work independently and demonstrate time management skills.

    Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

    Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.

    Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

    **Physical Demands and Work Environment**: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to 50 lbs and may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions. Frequent interaction with the public and groups of adults will occur. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

    **Minimum Qualifications**: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or abilities required for the position. Individuals must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test. Individuals must have a valid New Mexico CDL drivers license, two years driving experience, liability insurance, insurability under the agency insurance carrier, dependable vehicle and a clean driving record.

    Bachelors degree in related field or

    Five years supervisor experience in transportation/logistics field
