- Paid Summer Staff Training, including but not limited to:
- Mental Health First Aide Certification
- First Aide/CPR Certification (current or willingness to obtain via Girl Scouts)
- Customer/Guest Service
- Communication/Organization Skills
- Teamwork
- Behavior management
- Conflict Resolution
- Living on camp during summer season
- Food is provided during training and when camp is in session
- Prepare and lead activities in assigned program area that are engaging, age-appropriate, and camp-appropriate and achieve camper development objectives
- Carry out established duties regarding camper health, safety, and program goals while maintaining an organized program area
- Act as a Unit Counselor supervising campers during various activities including wake-up, kapers, meal preparation and consumption, camp activities, and bedtime and nighttime duties
- Encourage respect for others, the environment, and private property
- Observe and assess camper behavior for appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques
- Prepare for and participate in all aspects of camp life, including songs, meals, nature hikes, overnight camping trips, activities, campfire, staff training, meetings, clean-up of camp, and camp closing
- Complete paperwork in a timely fashion, including equipment requests, Incident Reports, evaluations, and weekly schedules
- 18+
- Current CPR and First Aid or willingness to obtain via Girl Scouts
- High School Diploma or GED
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards
- Ability to hike 5 miles of uneven terrain, with a 25-pound pack
- Experience planning and leading activities in program area
- Previous overnight camp and/or Girl Scout experience
- Comfort with and ability to perform various camp activities including outdoor cooking, chopping wood, fire building, etc.

This summer, Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GSWW) is offering the exciting opportunity for staff to experience summer at a beautiful lakefront camp property in Western Washington. Camp staff will live on-site at Camp St. Albans, at the base of the Olympic mountains on Lake Devereaux in Allyn, Washington. Camp staff will attend paid staff training.
The Program Specialist position plans and executes quality, age-appropriate programming in their area of expertise, which includes the natural environment, planning STEM and nature activities. Working with Unit Counselors, Program Specialists coordinate a week-long schedule uniquely molded to the goals and interests of each unit. On average, Specialists work within their activity area 5-6 hours a day, 5 days a week, when not working as a program specialist this position acts as a unit counselor in their assigned unit. Program Specialists sleep in outdoor cabins and participate in various aspects of camp life with that unit. Program Specialists get 2 hours off daily and a 24-hour break in between sessions.
