    Description

    Position Summary & Duties:
    The Grant Specialist is a direct-hire position working for HGA in Fort Myers, FL.

    POSITION SUMMARYThe Grant Specialist works under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Grant Manager providing comprehensive grant management services to Grantees and sub recipients involving all aspects of HUD/CDBG requirements.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides Grant Management assistance.
    • Prepares CDBG applications.
    • Checks documents for consistency and accuracy.
    • Opens and closes project files.
    • Maintains archive files.
    • Participates in meetings with Grantees to establish initial assessment of proposed recovery projects.
    • Assists in preparation of project descriptions.
    • Assists in the initial and final applications for funding.
    • Assists Grantees with compiling CDBG required documentation

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • Associate's or technical degree or equivalent work related experience preferred.
    • 1 to 2 years' experience in administering grand funding and implementation at the federal, state, or local levels of governments with emphasis on HUD programs.
    • 1 to 2 years' experience with multi-family development OR public works infrastructure projects from project design through construction
    • Required excellent communication skills and business professionalism with the ability to interact with various State and Community officials.
    • Good writing skills.
    • Good computer skills

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to manage time and resources efficiently.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Capability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
    • Knowledge and skills in Federal grant provisions and requirements.
    • Knowledge of procurement, labor compliance, environmental requirements.
    • Knowledge of Section 3, Section 504, real estate acquisition.
    • Knowledge of citizen participation, fair housing, and residential anti-displacement.
    • Knowledge of EEO, financial management, and recordkeeping.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
