    Summary:
    Assists in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.


    Responsibilities:

    • Maintains sterile operative fields.
    • Maintains inventory of medical supplies or equipment.
    • Assists healthcare practitioners during surgery.
    • Positions patients for treatment or examination.
    • Protect patients or staff members using safety equipment.
    • Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
    • May perform other duties upon request.

    Other information:
    Surgical Technician Certification preferred. BLS Required.

    • No previous experience required.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited surgical technician school OR equivalent combination of experience (2 Years) and education as a scrub tech OR CST students in their last semester preparing to graduate.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
    • Surgical Technician certification (preferred.)

    Working conditions:

    Essential:

    • Lifting, moving and loading 30 to 50 pounds.
    • Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends).
