    Job Opportunity at FWERF

    The Member Services Specialist plays a key role in managing the benefit programs at Fort Worth Employees' Retirement Fund (FWERF). From ensuring timely retiree and survivor benefit payments to overseeing retirement processing and the disability program, this position directly impacts the well-being of over 12,000 members. Some of the key responsibilities include:

    • Providing personalized pre-retirement counseling to active members
    • Conducting precise benefit calculations
    • Assisting the families of deceased participants with death benefits procedures
    • Managing retiree benefit payrolls on a regular basis
    • Preparing comprehensive retirement applications for Board approval
    • Updating participant information in the pension administration system
    • Protecting the confidentiality of personally identifiable information
    • Organizing retirement benefit seminars for employees

    The ideal candidate should have expertise in:

    • Defined benefit pension plans
    • Understanding simple versus compounding interest
    • Professional business correspondence and report writing
    • Compliance with confidentiality requirements for Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
    • Knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and local laws and regulations
    • Familiarity with banking and payroll processes

    Qualifications:

    • Education: College-level coursework in human resources, business administration, or related fields. An undergraduate degree is preferred.
    • Experience: 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or employee benefits administration.
    FWERF is dedicated to providing retirement benefits to City of Fort Worth employees, including general employees, police officers, and firefighters, through a well-designed public pension plan.
