    Description

    Position: Auditor I

    Company: Department of Finance, Tax Division

    This Auditor I position is open to the general public and all current city employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with the AFSCME Union.

    Number of positions: 5 (more pending budget approval)

    Under immediate supervision, the Auditor I performs entry-level professional auditing duties such as examining accounting records, interpreting tax ordinances, reviewing tax returns, auditing invoices, computing taxes owed, preparing summaries of audit findings, and more.

    Location: Department of Finance, Chicago, IL

    Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

    Qualifications:

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with 15 semester hours in accounting. Must provide transcripts with 15 semester hours of accounting courses at the time of the interview.

    Preferences:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

    Selection Criteria:

    Applicants will undergo an interview including a written exercise and/or skills assessment. Candidates best suited for the position will be selected based on the interview performance.
