    Introduction

    The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Regional Program Coordinator in the Hydrogeologist Program Coordinator classification within the Division of Environmental Management . This position can be located in Ashland, Superior, or Eau Claire Service Centers depending on the location of the selected applicant and department needs. There is an opportunity to telework for up to 60% of the workweek dependent on work needs.

    Position Summary

    This position serves as Regional Program Coordinator for the RR Program in the Region, performing professional work as a statewide specialist, working with the Region Program Manager to direct and coordinate the Remediation and Redevelopment (RR) Program within the region. The position serves as a technical program expert and resource, participating with RR Program management in the strategic and annual work planning of the RR Program. The position assists the Natural Resource Region Program Manager and leads regional staff in implementing RR Program policies and procedures; planning and conducting training; planning and implementing special projects to improve efficiency or work quality in the Region, serving as mentor and technical advisor to project managers; coordinating and providing technical oversight for staff on stalled case and enforcement strategies and actions; hiring, training and overseeing projects of limited term employee positions; and coordinating and serving on the peer/closure review committee in the region.

    Salary Information

    Regional Program Coordinator ( Hydrogeologist Program Coordinator) starting pay is $ $42.00/ hour ($75, $87,360.00 annually).

    This position is in Pay Schedule/Range A 12-month probation period may be required. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

    Job Details

    Travel: Travel to sites throughout the Region and occasional attendance at night meetings will be expected, as will infrequent statewide travel.

    Qualifications

    Please describe the below qualifications in your resume and letter of qualifications to be considered for this position:

    Required qualifications for these positions include all of the following:
    • Training, experience and/or education with geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, soil science and/or environmental investigation techniques.
    • Experience preparing and reviewing technical responses and communicating complex technical topics to a variety of audiences verbally and through written materials.
    • Experience with mentoring staff (e.g. d elegating tasks, setting agendas, establishing employee objectives, coaching/training staff, conducting employee evaluations, etc.)
    In addition to the required qualifications, best-qualified applicants will also have a combination the following:
    • Experience with interpreting and applying administrative procedures and regulatory requirements related to hazardous substance discharges.
    • Experience coordinating with other DNR programs, state and federal agencies, and external parties (municipalities, property developers, attorneys) regarding environmental contamination sites.
    • Experience drafting, developing and/or implementing state or federal rules, regulations, or policies related to environmental issues.
