What You'll Get to Do
As a Principal Engineer you will provide Subject Matter Technical and Engineering Expertise to U.S.
Navy surface ships and weapon systems for the Integrated Combat Systems (ICS) Department (V) at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).
Your work will contribute to the successful enabling of synergy across the warfare combat system portfolio through successful programmatic and technical execution.
The Principal Engineer will provide technical and engineering expertise in the areas of combat and weapons systems engineering to support the Digital Systems Engineering Transformation (DSET) effort that the Navy is currently undergoing.
The Naval DSET Strategy defines digital engineering as "an integrated, computation-based approach that uses authoritative sources of system data and models across disciplines to support lifecycle activities from concept through disposal." Digital Engineering will be a key to managing increasingly complex systems and ensuring future naval surface combat and warfare systems are defined, designed, updated, and sustained as necessary.
The Principal Engineer will assist this transformation by understanding how current processes, tools, and tasking might transform from being document-driven to model-driven.
The Principal Engineer should understand Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as part of Digital Engineering.Model Based Systems Engineering is "formalized application of modeling to support system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation, beginning in the conceptual design phase and continuing through development and later lifecycle phases.

Twenty (20) years of General Surface Navy Combat Systems engineering experience with at least Seven (7) years of specialized experience.
