    Principal Pyrometallurgical Process Engineer

    BBA iscurrently seeking a senior or principal engineer in Pyrometallurgical Processengineering to provide high quality consulting services to its growing base ofclients in high-temperature metallurgical operations.

    As the senior orprincipal pyrometallurgical engineer, you'll help lead studies and businessdevelopment initiatives of new processes, or modernization and decarbonizationof existing processes, globally.

    Youmust have at least 12 years of experience in pyrometallurgical design projectsand consulting and be motivated by business development and growth activities.

    We prefer that you have experience in base metals (or precious metals and PGM)designs and consulting along with an ability to find and implement innovativesolutions to complex metallurgical problems.


    Specificareas of expertise include drying, pre-reduction, pre-heating, roasting,smelting, converting and fire refining as well as knowledge and/or experiencein raw material handling, process and fugitive off-gas handling.

    Knowledge inacid plants and electrorefining would be an asset.

    Be an active member of amultidisciplinary, high-temperature engineering team.

    Address a variety ofcross-discipline technical challenges to ensure cost effective, safe and timelycompletion of plant audits and implementation of process optimization solutions.

    Evaluate, select andcommission new technologies that improve the safety, efficiency and/orprofitability of client operations.
    Prepare, review and/orapprove service offers and proposals.
    Liaise with clients on atechnical level and present reports, publications and presentations.
    Identify and establish newclients and build a network of prospects.

    Overview of certifications and job requirements
    Undergraduate or graduate degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university
    At least 12 years of experience in base metals pyrometallurgical design and development projects
    Strong track record of successfully completed high-temperature design projects in the mining and metals industry
    Have sharp analytical skills, with a particular interest and understanding of high-temperature metallurgical processes.
    High-temperature process simulation and/or design software experience and a strong desire to stay up to date on design tools
    Ability to register as a professional engineer in Canada
    Active participation and representation of BBA at conferences and at universities
    Occasional travel to domestic or international destinations is required.
    Be a team player and communicate well in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
    Demonstrate enthusiasm for business development and growth and a commitment to generating value-creating opportunities.
    Possess excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills.
    Be willing to engage and participate in university activities to support the growth of pyrometallurgical engineering skills in North America
    Be proactive and client oriented
    Show creativity and innovation when proposing solutions.
