Insurance Analyst/Medical Biller

Location:
Rancho Mirage, CA


Hours Per Day:8.00


Days Per Week:5.00


Duties:


  • Performs account review, followup, and collections, including double recoupment, correspondence, and credit balance resolution.
  • Demonstrates compliance with the Code of Conduct and compliance policies, taking action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Manages new accounts daily within Receivables Workstation, coordinating with other hospital departments to process or resolve claims.
  • Contacts patients and/or account guarantors to solicit payment.
  • Works all accounts listed in the Follow-Up queue daily to promote collection, including telephoning the payer or accessing payer websites.
  • Manages account inventory timely to promote payment and resolution as instructed by management.
  • Stays current on all payer requirements by reading bulletins, reviewing provider handbooks, etc.
  • Processes incoming correspondence, including denials, prior authorizations, and additional necessary information.
  • Records newly identified insurance plans and facilitates account processing accordingly.
  • Records accurate notes in the electronic account file to depict the current status, issues, and anticipated resolution dates.
  • Escalates account management to Supervisor when needed.
  • Keeps PFS management updated with contract, payer, or system changes/issues.

Education:


  • Required: High school diploma, GED, or higher level degree.
  • Licensure/Certification: N/A.
  • Experience:
  • Required: One (1) year of billing/collections experience, billing certification, or prior successful internship/temporary assignment in a patient financial service setting.
  • Preferred: Experience with managed care and Medicare/Medi-Cal Billing regulations.
