Duties quoted below are at the GS-13 level.


The Logistics Management Specialist (Warehousing And Distribution), provides a full range of logístical and supply chain management support across the Capitol Complex.

The work includes providing logístical support and managing warehouse operations in support of our customers' mission objectives; leveraging existing networks and expanding others; anticipating mission needs and operational requirements and offering alternatives and advice.


Warehouse Operations

  • Administers warehouse and distribution programs related to receipt, storage, issue, pack, kitting, shipment, inventory and care of stock in storage of general supplies, as well as commodities requiring special handling and processing.
  • Provides and maintains inventory management control over a supply of high activity and high dollar value items to support operational equipment systems on a recuring basis.
  • Applies a broad range of item management and production management buyer regulations and practices.
  • Maintains stock control and distribution of assets using practical stock control and distribution principles.
  • Validates input data that is used in the requirements computation for items managed.
  • Analyzes complex computational data for correctness and adjust this data when discrepancies occur.
  • Performs buyer production management activities that relate to repair operations.
  • Manages and technically directs contract administration activities for longterm, extensive technical service contracts, such as monitoring the status of contract performance and approval of progress payments, providing recommendations on contractor proposals resulting from change orders, scheduling, problems that have arisen and proposed solutions, verification of deliveries and similar activities.
  • Monitors contractor activities through personal contract or review to ensure compliance with technical, financial, delivery, and other terms of contract.
  • Provides technical assistance with advising on management control programs for supply operations for such purposes as controlling operations, determining supply costs, planning and budgeting and evaluating inventory management performance.
  • Develops design specifications, reviewing data processing systems that support inventory management programs, and documents additions, changes, or deletions.
  • Develops training programs for agency personnel in the region.
  • Identifies process improvements and makes recommendations that will provide efficiency and improve mission effectiveness.

Customer Service

  • Monitors and make recommendations to modify inventory control systems for subordinate and regional level programs.
  • Provides material support for complex projects, work operations, and/or programs and serves as a material support point of contact for maintenance customers.
  • Conducts long range, midrange and shortterm material support planning for established and future production workloads, to ensure material availability and serviceability.
  • Works with agency demand and supply planners and appropriate personnel to set and establish retail stock levels with input from storage and distribution personnel.
  • Works material supportability problems that could have an impact on production schedules and takes appropriate action to resolve them by coordinating with all sources of supply to maintain synchronized supply support.
  • Evaluates storage and distribution systems for potential introduction of automated controls and systems of data flow and reports.


The incumbent is responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable AOC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas.

Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is utilized.

Routinely checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
