THESE POSITIONS ARE TEMPORARY

119th CONGRESSIONAL MOVES
The core hours will range from 5:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

  • Shift work may change due to the Operating Needs of the Agency.
  • Office moves are scheduled 6 days a week, overtime may be required and will be mandatory


Wood Crafters will perform a wide range of carpentry projects in support of the House Office Buildings during the 119th Congressional moves.


_ Journey Level Experience in the Wood Crafter or Carpentry Occupational Trade is required._**
Major Duties:The work may involve construction, alteration, repair or modification of items and structures (such as wood and metal stud wall framework, walls, moldings, wood flooring, suspended ceilings, dry wall, doors, door frames, finished paneling, windows, counter tops, interior and exterior trim) where accuracy, spacing and fit are essential to structural soundness and appearance. Selects, cuts, turns, shapes, joins, bonds, fits, assembles and decorates wooden materials and parts, using the full range of hand and power woodworking tools, machines and techniques to create superior and structurally reliable wood work which requires exact fitting and close weight, pressure and size tolerances to construct specialty furniture.


The individual(s) uses a wide knowledge of wood supplies and precision woodworking methods and their alternatives to plan and lay out their work from specifications, blueprints, rough sketches and verbal instructions, taking into consideration the tooling, durability, cost, strength and appearance characteristics of a variety of softwoods, hardwoods, plywood, veneers and wood substitutes for projects.

The individual(s) must follow all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner.

The position also provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure the utilization of all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), etc.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • A person who is currently an officer or employee of the Government of the United States.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT required for this position:

  • Ability to perform journey-level wood crafting or carpentry without more than normal supervision
