    Position Description

    The Lead Child Support Officer is responsible for the overall training of the child support program and serves as the subject matter expert of program policies and procedures to handle the most complex issues and problems associated with child support services. The Lead Child Support Officer evaluates the daily activities for a team responsible for providing a variety of child support duties which include providing and developing training, analyzing data, maintaining a caseload, and interpret complex statutes and polies to ensure program compliance.

    This is a full-time, non-exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will take place on the week of May 20th, 2024 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

    Pay & Benefits

    • Salary: $70,012.80 to 84, $33.66 to 40.39 per hour)
    • 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34. $70,012.80 to $98, $33.66 to $47.12 per hour).

    Work Location

    • This position will work at the Blaine Human Services Center, th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434.
    • This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
    • Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities
    These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Lead Child Support Officer

    • Perform complex work and specialized assignments requiring an advanced level of technical knowledge in the child support program, departmental processes, and caseload administration.
    • Provide training to employees providing child support services and serve as a lead specialist for less experienced employees.
    • Manage complex child support cases.
    • Review and process complex cases to ensure they meet all program requirements.
    • Interpret complex state and federal policies and procedures to ensure program compliance.
    • Develop and provide training to the economic assistance department on complex state and federal policies.
    • Provide training and information to county partners and other agencies.
    • Interpret complex information from records and documents.
    • Perform quality assurance reviews to evaluate team performance and maintain program integrity.
    • Testify in court hearings or appeals to present evidence and facts.
    • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group, and may act as a lead providing daily work direction and managing timeline of weekly activities depending on assignment.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

    • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent education.
    • Six years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience work in the child support program.
    • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

    • Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Paralegal or related field.
    • Four years of direct experience working in the child support program.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Physical Demands and Work Conditions

    • Standard office environment.
    • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.
    • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
    • Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.
    • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.
    • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
    • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
