Job Description

LHH is searching for Assistant Controller within a manufacturing company, your role would involve overseeing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and the ability to manage complex financial structures across different business entities.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as applicable.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with senior management to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures, investigate variances, and provide insights for decision-making.
Cost Accounting: Manage cost accounting processes, including the tracking and allocation of manufacturing costs (e.g., direct materials, labor, overhead). Analyze production costs to optimize efficiency and profitability.
Inventory Management: Oversee inventory accounting processes, including valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO) and inventory control procedures. Monitor inventory levels, reconcile discrepancies, and assess inventory turnover.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct internal audits to identify risks and improve operational efficiency.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, such as pricing decisions, investment opportunities, and product profitability analysis. Provide recommendations based on financial insights and performance metrics.
Tax Compliance: Work with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize tax planning strategies. Prepare tax returns and assist with tax audits as needed.
Financial Systems and Processes: Evaluate and improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement new accounting software or upgrades as necessary.
Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on complex accounting issues and professional development opportunities.
Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects as assigned by senior management, such as mergers and acquisitions, system implementations, or process improvements.

Qualifications:

5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with a demonstrated understanding of multi-company financial management.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Sage and Microsoft Excel, and other relevant applications.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with various stakeholders across the organization.
Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with intercompany transactions and consolidations is a significant advantage.
