THE JOB
As Telecommunications Engineer, Your Roles And Responsibilities Will Include
Design and create documentation for data communication systems, wiring schematics, and equipment configurations for substation, generation, and load interconnection projects.
Provide technical input for project planning and work with external utility and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
Support compliance efforts for WECC, FERC, and NERC requirements related to electronic communications.Serve as a consultant for networking and communication needs, taking ownership of subject matter and geographical regions, and act as a project manager for minor projects or system upgrades.
Design and test new telecommunications or network systems and take the lead in designing major networking or communications systems, including systems capacity planning.
Provide technical leadership and serve as a subject matter expert in one or more technical domains.DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal
Telecommunications Engineer
would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field
or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelors degree. A minimum of two years of additional directly related technical experience is required.)
Proficiency in TDM, packet, microwave radio, and/or fiber optic communication systems.
Professional level knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions, and major vendors.
Five years of telecommunications or networking experience.
Advanced knowledge of TDM, packet, microwave radio, and/or fiber optic communication systems.
