CAREGIVER (part-time)

Seeking an experienced caregiver who understands the importance of meeting health needs and helping an elderly woman maintain a high quality of life.

Must be efficient and committed with excellent communication skills; a caregiver who can problem solve quickly is preferred. As companionship is an important part of this job, it requires a caregiver who is compassionate, patient, understanding. Must like board games and be willing to drive if necessary. This would include lifting a wheelchair in and out of our small SUV. Must be able to bend, squat, lift heavy items and get on a step stool or ladder.

Caregiver responsibilities:
Prepare meals/snacks, assist with mobility, dressing, toileting, and showering needs, pushing a wheelchair inside and outside of the home, help manuvering a powerchair when needed, rehab exercises, light housekeeping, and transfers to/from a powerchair, wheelchair and walker.
Housekeeping tasks include washing dishes,cleaning counters, clearing dishwasher, laundry, making the bed, etc. We have a bi-weekly cleaning person who does heavy cleaning.

Hours: 13-16 hours per week

This includes least 3 morning shifts and 1-3 night visits weekly, as well as 1 or 2 weekends monthly.

Preferred:
Valid Calif. driver's license and auto insurance and good driving skills. Experience with powerchairs, medication administration and/or CNA experience is a plus.

Note:
Work will be based at a private home of a husband and wife. Hands-on care will be provided for the wife only, yet house chores, etc. may be completed for the couple.
