- Lead evidence-based individual and group intervention through use of diagnostic evaluation, clinical observation, psychometric instruments (relevant to the professional credential), and other clinically-indicated means, and as informed by mental-health theory, cultural competencies, psychopathology, and clinical research.
- Provide direct clinical service through client-centered treatment plans designed to assist a diverse college-student population with a wide range of presenting concerns, and with the flexibility to offer these services both in-person and via tele-behavior health.
- Assess risk and provide appropriate and timely crisis intervention. When clinically indicated, assist, and coordinate higher level of care utilizing community mental health resources.
- Manage caseload for students with behavioral, family, financial, academic, or other personal concerns, often in conjunction with the Dean of Students, Health Center, Residence Life, Campus Ministry, Accessibility Resources, and other units as needed, and support Title IX incident response.
- Respond to crisis situations, coordinate the Counseling Center's emergency and crisis-response procedures, participate in threat assessment activities, and coordinate the Counselor On-Call schedule.
- Provide evidenced-based clinical supervision to counseling staff and interns.
- Provide oversight and management of all aspects of counseling services, including personal and group counseling, assessments, and referrals.
- Lead innovation of clinical services and delivery methods to respond to changing needs of students and the community.
- Formulate, organize, and administer policy for all phases of the Counseling Center operations.
- Lead the team in setting goals, planning, conducting, and evaluating performance standards for quality, service, efficiency, and effectiveness for all programs and services offered.
- Provide administrative supervision, training, and evaluation for Counseling Center team (3 full-time counselors, 1 administrative support, and master's-level and undergraduate interns) that align with professional and ethical standards in higher education and the counseling profession.
- Ensure proper record keeping and reporting in accordance with appropriate professional and ethical standards.
- Plan and maintain the department's annual operating budget.
- Provide training and education to the University community on student health and wellness initiatives, including topics such as suicide prevention, domestic violence, and sexual assault, and collaborate with other departments for trainings as appropriate.
- Provide psychoeducational events, programming, and related resources for students.
- Coordinate alcohol and other drug (AOD) programming and education.
- Serve as a liaison to local hospitals and other care providers.
- Uphold and model the University's service excellence standards (Responsive, Collaborative, Effective, Respectful) in all service delivery.

- MS/MA in clinical counseling or MSW in social work from an accredited program is required.
- Must be independently licensed as a Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois.
- 2-3 Years of administrative and clinical supervision experience preferred. Experience in college or university counseling center environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong generalist therapy skills with ability to evaluate and diagnose clients.
- Familiarity with best practices for college or university counseling centers, with an understanding of the administrative and legal complexities associated with administration of a college counseling center preferred.
- Experience in crisis management and suicide prevention activities preferred.
- Special skills and experience relevant to substance abuse, women's issues, and underserved populations preferred.
- Able to communicate with diverse populations, students, departments, and constituents.
- Able to manage clinical practitioners and collaborate with clinical partners.
- Experience with electronic health records (Microsoft Office and MedicatOne) preferred.
- Confidentiality and adherence to ethical practices.
- Bilingual (Spanish) encouraged to apply.

The Counseling Center, located in the Driehaus Center, is part of the Student Life division and an integral partner in the University's health and wellness initiatives.
The Director plays a key leadership role in strengthening connections between the Counseling Center and other departments across the University through the coordination of services and activities that support the wellness and well-being of SXU students.
The Director is the University's chief mental-health care advisor, and provides direct clinical service in addition to administrative responsibilities, and supervises a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals.
The Director reports to the Dean of Students and serves as a member of the Student Life Leadership Team and the University's Care Team, among other integral groups that require a mental-health educational perspective.
