- Interviewing techniques; normal and abnormal behavior; psychological testing and interpretation; mental disorders; developmental stages and life tasks; rules of conduct established by the Minnesota Board of Psychology governing the professional practice of psychology; knowledge/awareness of one's own personal limits and when to refer clients; variety of therapeutic theoretical constructs and treatment modalities; continuum of care; Hospital and community resources; requirements for licensure by the Minnesota Board of Psychology.
Conduct evaluations and formulate treatment plans; administer and interpret a variety of psychometric measures; diagnose mental disorders; exercise good judgment and accept personal responsibility; establish and maintain a safe, therapeutic and confidential environment; conduct individual, family and group therapy, employing a variety of theoretical styles and therapeutic strategies; build rapport with difficult clients and withstand manipulation; keep accurate medical records; express oneself clearly verbally and in writing and interrelate with other healthcare professionals; understand and follow complex oral and written directions; public speaking and educational training; establish and maintain constructive working relationships with colleagues, supervisory, administrative and community persons; identify and establish liaisons with appropriate community resources; facilitate referrals appropriately; to hear and see.
- READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
- WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
SPEAKING - Intermediate:Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
