    The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking an experienced Research Faculty member to join its team

    The Assistant/Associate Professor provides scientific and technical leadership for Dr. Monica Kraft's respiratory research laboratory, primarily focusing on human lung epithelial cell biology and innate immune mechanisms in asthma with plans to expand to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. With a broad laboratory background and excellent interpersonal skills, this individual is a critical component of the Principal Investigator's organization. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of consistently publishing manuscripts and prior success writing grants and applying for external funding.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Designs and conducts complex basic science/translational research studies requiring the determination and evaluation of alternative methods
    2. Analyzes and interprets data from research studies
    3. Explores subject area and defines scope and selection of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies
    4. Develops hypotheses to be tested and methodology for evaluating results
    5. Communicates research results to the scientific community via published papers
    6. Applies for internal and external funding by writing single and multi-investigator grants
    7. Coordinates seminars and discussions for dissemination of knowledge
    8. Develops new proposals for research and obtain support for new and/ or continuing research activities
    9. Makes decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive scientific research activities
    10. Supervise graduate/ medical students and trainees
    11. Performs other related duties
    Work Environment:

    Laboratory environment with expertise in Pulmonary, cell and molecular biology

    Experience Requirements:
    • Minimum five years of experience with scientific investigation
    • Must have strong (English) writing skills
    • Must have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a field of research
    • Must have contributed to a number of peer-reviewed publications, inventions or the like, at least some of which have had a major impact on advancing the field or discipline
    • Prior experience successfully writing external proposals is highly desirable
    • Prior experience mentoring trainees
    • Experience with a wide range of cell biological techniques including CRISPR, advanced immunofluorescence microscopy techniques, and establishing primary cultures
    • MS Office Suite - Intermediate/Advanced level
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
    Education Requirements:
    • Ph.D. in sciences or related field
    • Compensation range from 120K to 230K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

    Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
