- Bachelor's Degree in education or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-3 years in selective college admissions or independent school college counseling
- Demonstrated ability to work enthusiastically with adolescent youth and build relationships
- Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
- Proven organization and follow up skills
- Solid technology skills
- Positive attitude with a sense of humor
- Serve as college counselor for a group of Pembroke Hill students in grades 10,11, and 12. Size of the group will depend on the size of the graduating class, typically a range of 25-30 students per grade level.
- Build relationships with these students and their families.
- Oversee all components of the college search and application process for assigned students and families.
- Meet with students (individually and in groups) as necessary to discuss college options and procedures.
- Help each student develop an individualized standardized testing plan.
- Write the counselor letter of recommendation.
- Advise students on their course selection choices.
- Complete the Secondary School Report and other supporting documents to support student college/scholarship applications.
- Use SCOIR to send application materials and communicate with students.
- Be a resource for students/families interested in financial aid/scholarships.
- Assist with college counseling office responsibilities including but not limited to meeting/greeting visiting college/university representatives, planning office events, standardized test administration, writing/editing/publishing office communications, etc.
- Research and stay current on trends in the college counseling profession and higher education.
- Nurture long term relationships with colleges and universities.
- Embrace an approach that nurtures diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Assistant Director of College Counseling
Position begins August 2024 (school year position)
The Assistant Director of College Counseling will be responsible for organizing and overseeing the college search and application process for an assigned group of students.
The college counseling program is an integral part of the upper school experience and embodies the mission, philosophy and objectives of the school.
There are approximately 420 students in the upper school (grades 9-12) and 4.0 FTE positions dedicated to college counseling (3 full-time and 2 part-time).
