Description

Our school district is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Nurse to provide health services for our students during the Extended School Year (ESY) and continuing into the New School Year (NSY). As a School Nurse, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and well-being of our students, promoting a safe and healthy school environment that supports learning and development.

Responsibilities:

Provide nursing care and physical screening to students; assess students and implement first aid measures as needed.
Manage chronic health conditions of students and administer medication according to physician's orders and parental consent.
Maintain accurate health records and prepare reports related to health services.
Implement infection control measures within the school environment.
Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to promote a healthy school environment.
Develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
Educate students and staff on health and wellness topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and physical activity.
Participate in the development and implementation of health policies and procedures.
Monitor compliance with state immunization and health assessment requirements for school attendance.
Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed.

Requirements

Licensed Registered Nurse in Illinois.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Certification as a School Nurse (CSN) is highly desirable.
Previous experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing is preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Knowledge of child growth and development, community health and safety issues, and preventive health practices.
