Job Description and Duties


Under the close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) within the North Central Region's (NCR) Habitat Conservation (HabCon) Program, the incumbent is responsible for completing Environmental Review and Permitting tasks related to the Department's Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA) Program, the California Endangered Species Act (CESA), the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and other laws, regulations and Department policies, guidelines and procedures pertaining to the protection of biological resources.

In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and

pass the following exam:

Working Conditions


Ability to use a computer keyboard for several hours each day; complete office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking to other locations; attend meetings and conference calls; visit the locations of proposed and permitted projects requiring travel of up to three or more hours each way and sometimes including early mornings and late nights; hiking over uneven and possibly steep or wet terrain on project sites; Occasional use of an All-Terrain vehicle.

Occasional travel is required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include an overnight stay.

Must be able to deploy with short notice for extended periods (up to 7 days) that will include overnight stay.

This position requires the employee to wear a prescribed CDFW uniform. This position requires the possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
