Job Description and Duties


Are you a fiscal professional with a passion for wildlife conservation? Consider joining the Fiscal Services team as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.


Under the general direction of the Chief of the Accounting Services Branch (Accounting Administrator III), the incumbent will plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the accounting activities for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), Accounts Payable (AP) Section.

CDFW AP Contracts and Miscellaneous and Travel Utilities units; supervise and train accounting staff in their respective duties; and provide accounting/fiscal data necessary for departmental and control agency needs.

The incumbent will directly supervise two (2) Accounting Administrator I supervisors responsible for the operations and accounting activities of their respective teams and one (1) Associate Accounting Analyst.


Headquartered in our new high-rise building located in downtown Sacramento, this position has the opportunity of being eligible for remote centered hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California.


The new Natural Resources Building is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.

In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam:

Working Conditions
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Time off may not be granted during the year-end Financial Statement period. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Attend meetings and trainings. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and trainings via private or public transportation.
