    The Resource Center's Executive Director oversees the strategic planning, implementation, and execution of administrative operations, programs, initiatives, training, research, and assessment. This role advances the strategic goals of the Office of Diversity and Outreach (ODO) and the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Campus, which includes UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. The executive director manages various resources, such as the Multicultural Resource Center, LGBTQ Resource Center, Undocumented Student Support Services, and Community Engagement and Dialogue, to support and educate all community members. They advocate for and amplify inclusive and equitable opportunities for minoritized students, staff, and faculty through campus and system-wide policy changes to reduce bias and discrimination. They work towards advancing center engagement, empowerment, and visibility and ground their work in anti-racist principles and social justice, equity, and inclusion practices. The goal is to equip and enable participants to navigate and thrive in the academic community. The Executive Director's role is vital in promoting social justice, equity, and inclusion at our institution. The Executive Director serves as a diversity, equity, and inclusion expert and reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Climate and Belonging in the Office of Diversity and Outreach.     Department Description

    The Office of Diversity and Outreach (ODO) serves as the campus leader in building diversity in all aspects of the UC San Francisco mission through ongoing assessment, development of new programs and building consensus. We collaborate with the four professional schools, the Graduate Division, and the medical centers, to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across UCSF.

    The Vice Chancellor's Office of Diversity and Outreach (VCDO) oversees various units including the Center for Science Education and Outreach, the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response, and the direct administrative office of the Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Outreach as well as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Climate and Belonging. The ODO Assistant Vice Chancellor of Climate and Belonging oversight includes the CARE, Disability, LGBTQ, and Multicultural Resource Centers, Undocumented Student Support Services, and Community Engagement and Dialogue.

    The mission of the Office is to build a broadly diverse faculty, student, trainee and staff community, to nurture a culture that is welcoming and supportive, and to engage diverse ideas for the provision of culturally competent education, discovery and patient care. Our priority is to develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for diversity and outreach that supports UCSF's mission of advancing health worldwide, and the recruitment and retention of talented employees and students who contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in related area and six+ years of experience, including five in a lead/supervisory role or equivalent experience / training
    • Professional experience of 5-10 years in directing DEI initiatives, including identity resource centers or departments.
    • Supervision of team members in a research or academic setting.
    • Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and belonging to foster positive and professional relationships with colleagues, students, and team members.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion principles and practices in an educational setting, as well as a broad understanding of human resources and business operations.
    • Possess exceptional interpersonal communication and diplomatic skills, as well as advanced presentation skills.
    • Exhibited ability to collaborate effectively with multiple organizational units and overcome complex institutional barriers.
    • Advanced skills in strategic planning and implementation, including setting performance goals and overseeing short- and long-term initiatives.
    • Conduct analysis and prepare written reports and recommendations, demonstrating problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in social sciences (Education, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science) / or equivalent experience / training.
    • Doctorate degree (or terminal degree) in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
    • MS Suite proficiency.
