    We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with a broad range of experience to lead the development of our web application layer. As a key member of our team, you will be involved in all stages of the software development process. We value individuals with a great sense of humor and a drive to deliver exceptional software. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment is essential. Knowledge of Agile methodologies is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with development teams and product managers to brainstorm software solutions
    • Architect client/server systems
    • Build and maintain databases and applications
    • Create efficient APIs
    • Conduct software testing to ensure optimal performance
    • Debug and enhance software applications
    • Implement security measures and data protection protocols
    • Conduct code reviews
    • Prepare technical documentation
    • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to enhance software functionality

    Requirements

    • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with multiple backend languages (e.g. C++, Java)
    • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, MongoDB)
    • Knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, and Bash
    • Experience with web servers (e.g. Apache, NGINX)
    • Proficient in developing REST APIs
    • Familiarity with version control systems like git, Azure DevOps is a bonus
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
    • BS Degree in Computer Science
    • Must be based on the East Coast, local candidates preferred
