Overview


The Operations Finance Manager is a key partner for the Finance and Operations Organization understanding and communicating key financial metrics and drivers of variances to plan, forecast and prior year.

Operations Manager will utilize reporting and analytics to provide leadership with value added insights and recommendations to improve operational efficiencies.

The Manager will proactively seek out operational risks and opportunities, suggest ideas to improve processes and maximizing profitability.

Key responsibilities include overseeing and improving cross-functional visibility to reporting and key analytics, working with DC operations team to understand, improve and optimize costs.

The Manager will also be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial forecasts and annual budgets particularly centered around warehouse expense and outbound freight costs.

The Operations Manager is a strong communicator and collaborator.

They must possess strong leadership and strategic thinking skills while thoroughly understanding DC Operations including building detailed labor models, costing out value added services and allocating costs to the product level.


Essential Job Functions

  • Provide visibility of key performance metrics related to warehouse expense, outbound freight expense, tracking of strategic initiatives, identifying potential performance gaps, and driving margin improvement.
  • Ensure profitability targets are being met; provide fact and metricdriven analysis to improve operational variances, drive P&L optimization, and build the storyline; evaluate potential returns on invested capital for proposed projects and work with HR and Operations to set and track targets for labor costs and wage increases.
  • Oversee the development of financial models to improve forecast accuracy and lead collaborative efforts to build annual budgets and update periodic forecasts.
  • Understands and communicates relationship of data against budget, forecast and prior year data. Provides guidance on strategic decisions.
  • Support business leader's efforts to improve business processes and drive profitability by developing insightful analytics and reports, especially in the areas of warehouse expenditures, inventory management, inbound freight and COGS.
  • Design and conduct other complex ad hoc analyses in support of key business objectives and strategic initiatives or investments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and define performance metrics (KPIs) and dashboards that provide insight on key trends that impact business performance. Identify emerging risk issues and trends and present analyses to senior management.
  • Support the sales team and crossfunctional teams by developing and enhancing dashboards, reports, and scorecards.
  • Allocate operational costs down to the customer/item level for reporting visibility.
  • Function as a contributing and leading member of the team and crossfunctionally.
  • Provide reports and insights to support internal and external presentation decks.
  • Responsible for developing, quantifying, and evaluating the transformation of information into business intelligence to support the strategic objectives of the organization and drive operational excellence.

Qualifications & Core Skills

  • BS/BA in Business, Finance, Accounting or other related field.
  • Advanced Excel usage (sumif, index match, lookups, pivot tables).
  • Power BI experience highly preferred.
  • 6+ years previous financial analysis experience in consumer products, durable goods, and/or manufacturing company.
  • Strong leadership skills (planning, communication, relationship building, educating).
  • Ability to lead and manage a team.
