- Prepare growth media and components by following detailed protocols.
- Calibrate and maintain sensor systems.
- Provide clean and sterilized lab materials for experiments.
- Perform routine and experimental physiological measurements
- Exercises judgment within defined practices and procedures; guided decision making.
- Clearly documents and maintains laboratory notebooks, logs, and computer files.
- Prepare SOP's
- Must be able to follow experimental protocols for complex physiology experiments focused on testing productivity of algae strains
- Performs preventive maintenance to laboratory equipment at schedule bases and/or as required or assigned.
- Use of appropriate judgement for time management.
- Maintain a culture of safety in the facilities
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Experience- Bachelor's degree in microbiology, phycology, biology or related discipline with 0-1 year of laboratory experience
- Basic familiarity with lab equipment and machinery
- Experience with sterile technique and maintenance of microbiology cultures
- Basic knowledge of lab safety protocols
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instruction
- Team-player who works well in a team oriented environment
- Computer usage including Email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Firm understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to work a schedule which may include weekends and overtime
This is a temp to hire position.
Estimated base salary range for a Research Associate is $ $31.00hr depending on previous experience. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated as well.
